I attended a conference for Christian communicators and women’s ministry leaders this summer. One of the speakers asked, “What is the favorite aspect of your role?” I didn’t have to consider the question long, as an answer immediately came to the forefront. Beautiful faces flooded my mind’s eye.
Conversations I’ve been privileged to share over my years of ministry played in my memory. I carry with me the many stories of women whose lives transformed in Christ. The heart of the women’s ministry at Corazón is relationships. Each event, retreat, Bible study, or one-on-one conversation creates a connection that reflects God’s desire to have intimate relationships with us.
Our ministry programs provide a doorway for women to find community and care in a cultural context, no matter their spiritual condition. As a ministry, we hope to love women well, to earn the right to speak the Gospel into their lives in any season or circumstance. Jesus initiated a relationship with the Samaritan woman at the well. He knew her thirst for living water. She responds: “Please, sir, give me this water. Then I will never be thirsty again…” (John 4:10-15 NLT).
The Women of Heart ministry welcomes the thirsty friend. Our purpose is to create safe spaces where a woman can drink in the living Word of God. There is refreshment in fellowship and company of other women. Wise mentors come alongside to water new faith because they, too, were once thirsty.
This fall, women have returned to the monthly Women of Heart nights, where I teach through an excellent Bible study on prayer: On Bended Knee, Praying like Prophets, Warriors, and Kings. The 20 & 30 Somethings will complete my study: Called by God. Home Bible studies range from diving into the book of Romans to learning to walk in the freedom of Christ, and to how to build a marriage on Scriptural principles. These studies often result in prayer partnerships, one-on-one discipleship, and life-long friendships. The joy of new and deepening relationships centered on Jesus keeps Women of Heart is a blessing year after year.
Please join me in prayer for the beautiful women’s stories to be transformed in Christ.
